I’m learning to look for the beauty in the world- not only that, but intentionally cultivate and create it. There is so much to notice and make, once you get past all the noise.

I want to lose myself, getting up close to pretty things; to examine them and question them; to philosophize with them about their meaning and purpose (are those the same thing, or are they different?)

Maybe this exercise will help me recognize my own beauty.

So much of our online lives are aspirational- they aren’t real. It makes it easy to get disoriented. So I wanted to focus on the ordinary beauty of everyday life.

Each object below says: “I am here”, not “look at me”. None arranged themselves for the viewer.

The flower doesn’t pose and the forest isn’t staged- except by time, the seasons, light, and the weather. Nothing is performative or idealized. They simply are what they are. Fully dedicated to being. Never contorting themselves to look any different for the sake of an onlooker.

Each original photograph is a reminder that beauty is all around us, whether we see it or not.
